There’s nothing like generations of family experience.
Goldup Farms have been operating since 1952 when David’s father started the business of citrus growing. Since then David has passed his knowledge down to his son Glen, who is now the owner and operator of Goldup Farms. Charlie, who will be the 4th generation at Goldup Farms, is lucky enough to be learning the ropes from both his father and grandfather.
Wes is a fourth generation citrus grower.
Wes’ passion stems from his grandfather who began growing citrus on a soldier settlement block in Buronga. Wes is continuing his family’s tradition by passing down his passions to his young family of four.
Although Wes and Rebecca have their hands full with four busy children, they still manage to grow amazing produce that never disappoints us here at MFC.
This is the Pardo family.
Joseph and Christine produce citrus at Pardo Farms and MFC are always excited to see their high quality fruit coming through the shed.
It all started with Joseph’s grandfather, Giuseppe Pardo, who immigrated from Italy in 1938, starting with small glass houses in Buronga. Fast forward a few years, his father Antonio Pardo purchased their first property at Karadoc in 1975.
Planting beans and rockmelons during the early years, as a family run farm, they were harvesting most of the crops themselves. Shifting their focus to citrus since the early 1980’s. Little Antonio, who is their fourth generation, shares his family enthusiasm in farming and is really looking forward to being part of the team.
Meet the Vanderbergs!
Tim, along with his family, run one of the most remarkable properties with utmost care and love.
Coolgardie Farm is a relatively new farm, just 6 years old, located next to the Murray River. The farm boasts nutrient rich soils with excellent draining capabilities, assisting the Vanderbergs to consistently grow top tier citrus year in, year out.
Tim’s meticulous planning has helped ensure that Coolgardie farm operates between 8-9 months of the year, harvesting Early-Mid and Late season varietals, including; Fisher, Atwoods, Washingtons, Cara Cara, Limes, Lemons, Afourer, Late Lanes and seedless Valencia. Tim’s keen interest in new and emerging citrus trends has helped him capitalise and shape his current and future plans for the property, with plantings designed to ensure a smooth transition through varieties.
Tim follows and exceeds best growing practices and along with guidance from the MFC grower services team, ensures his farming operation supplies excellent quality fruit for all the markets MFC enjoys.
Meet the Minters!
Father and son, Darren and Garry at Minter Magic never disappoint our team at MFC when their oranges arrive at our shed. Always vibrant in colour and sweet in taste.
McMahon Farms has provided MFC with premium citrus for the last 26 years.
Located in Ellerslie NSW, their orchard is an amazing 74 hectares of top quality produce. Rohan has been in the citrus game for 38 years, and this definitely reflects on his fruit.
Michael from Yelta Produce is the fourth generation of his family legacy that started in 1948.
Michael’s experience and knowledge in the industry guarantees his citrus arrives at our shed in
exceptional condition.
Little Jordan, who is the next generation at Yelta Produce loves oranges just like her dad, and
also loves the camera just as much as it loves her.
This is Brett and Helen Hullah, and together with Helen’s brother Andrew run one of the farms MFC is most proud of, Grandview Orchards.
They, along with their family, decided to buy the property 11 years ago. Although they didn’t grow citrus before, the Jolley family has been in the industry for a long time. Helen’s father started in the packer and marketing citrus industry and later on the family decided to run a citrus tree nursery. It was in 2013 when they decided to invest in the first step of the industry, growing high quality fruit.
Grandview orchards are in a remarkable location for growing citrus providing good conditions to produce very good quality most of the years. They produce a wide range of varieties starting form earlies, mid and latest being able to pick throughout all the season.
Being one of MFC’s key suppliers, Brett and Helen have a close relationship with Grower’s services team, who supports and gives them a closer view of the market needs.
Meet John! One of our amazing growers and the face behind Piccirillo Family Trust.
John has a wealth of knowledge that he has curated over his many years in the industry. Using this knowledge, John strives to produce some of the highest quality citrus to be exported globally.
Having a long history in farming is one of John’s greatest assets. Starting out with vine dried fruit and wine grapes with his parents, he then in 1976 added citrus to his planting portfolio with the hope of having crops and cashflow for a greater percentage of the year. John eventually transitioned his property away from vines and entirely to Citrus. John works closely with the MFC grower services team, drawing on their broad network of knowledge to assist him in meeting his produce quality and quantity goals.
Piccirillo Family Trust grow many of the varieties that our customers know and love! Including the Dandy Mandy mandarin, Tangold mandarin, Fisher navel, Washington navel, Late Lane navel, and Cara Cara navel. John’s main focus is always on providing MFC with the highest quality fruit for packing and the production team are always excited to see his fruit rolling in throughout the season.
Susan and Peter are dedicated citrus growers in the Riverina, with a deep farming heritage.
Susan’s family has been farming for generations, and she grew up on a fruit farm in Hanwood, where her parents grew a wide variety of fruits. After transitioning from stone fruits to grapes and oranges, Susan’s passion for farming grew.
In 1999, Susan and Peter purchased a 50-acre farm, which was originally part of a dairy farm, where her grandparents first settled upon arriving in Australia, it was also where her mother grew up. After acquiring the vacant land, they began planting citrus, focusing on producing premium-quality navels, including Cara Cara, Late Lane, and Chislett varieties.
Frank Barone is a proud second-generation citrus farmer, continuing the legacy his parents started.
After making the move from Boundary Bend to Mildura, he’s spent the last 11 years growing citrus on his own farm. Growing Dandy Mandys, Cara Cara oranges, and Tangold mandarins, Frank is passionate and puts in hard work and dedication to produce top-quality citrus for us all!
